The site specific work, ‘ Guestroom’ that is both performative and autobiographical in nature. It was shown at at a very unique location in the old town of Rawalpindi, at the Gatemell Motel, Room 24.
The Guest Room series is an exercise in reenactment and self-portraiture. Not unlike, the myth about the nine lives of a cat, I play, I stray and perhaps I will stay. The constant negotiation between the familiarity of domestic spaces that belong to the ‘other’ and the estrangement of the ‘self’ is central to this work. The photographs are meant to capture traces of memory and they become a narrative of transition.
